**Name:** Rina (name changed for privacy)
**Age:** 22
**Before Darbar Computer:** BBS 2nd year, zero coding experience, knew how to use Facebook and Word — that's it.
**Today:** Freelance web developer, average **Rs. 40,000–55,000/month**, working about 20 hours a week while finishing her studies.
This is her story.
"I thought coding was only for 'tech people'"
Rina enrolled in our **Web Development Foundations** course in February 2026, not because she loved coding, but because she needed *any* skill that could earn money part-time while she finished her BBS.
"I was honestly scared at first. I had never typed a single line of code. I thought programmers were geniuses who studied CS for 4 years. But by week 2, I had built my first webpage — a simple portfolio about myself — and I was hooked."
The 3-month roadmap
Rina followed a very clear, repeatable path that *any* beginner can copy:
Month 1: Learn the fundamentals
- HTML → CSS → basic JavaScript (covered in weeks 1–6 of the course)
- Built 3 small practice projects: a restaurant menu, a to-do app, a personal bio page
- Started a simple GitHub portfolio
Month 2: Pick a niche and build 2 real projects
- She chose **"small-business landing pages"** as her niche (simple, fast to build, lots of demand)
- Built 2 free websites for her cousin's boutique and a friend's tutoring center
- These became her first portfolio pieces
Month 3: Start pitching and land the first 2 clients
- Posted her portfolio on Facebook business groups and Instagram
- Messaged 20–30 local businesses per week offering a "Rs. 8,000 basic landing page"
- **Week 9:** Landed first client (Rs. 10,000) — a local pharmacy
- **Week 11:** Landed second client (Rs. 15,000) — a travel agency
By month 3, she had already earned **more than her entire course fee**.
Rina's advice for beginners
1. **Don't wait until you're "ready."** You will never feel 100% ready. Build 2–3 projects and start pitching — you will learn the rest on the job.
2. **Niche down fast.** "I build websites" is too broad. "I build fast, mobile-friendly websites for pharmacies in Kathmandu" — that gets clients.
3. **Deliver faster than promised.** Under-promise and over-deliver. Your first 5 clients will give you referrals that fuel the next year.
